Comment répondre aux nouveaux enjeux et améliorer l'efficience de la gestion des surfaces herbacées dans une ville pratiquant la gestion différenciée depuis plus de 30 ans ?

Abstract : The Direction des Jardins of Rennes used to a differentiated management has to consider stakes becoming more and more serious. First of all, an important raise of the surfaces managed without any hiring. Secondly, new kinds of grassy surface appearing such as hay, flowery meadows, bulbs, edges... Lastly, a new and more powerful focus on environmental considerations. The inventory of mowing management shows that 483ha of grassy surface are managed by 30 maintenance team. A pool of 27 riding mower (able to cut a width of 1m50 of grass) is attributed to the teams. 3 high-performance-mowers mow stages and large surfaces. Issues are revealed: not enough performance for the riding mowers, lacks of organization between the teams, incoherence with maintenance guide, problems with the inhabitants and users... Price of managing cost of different surfaces are shown thanks to the economic analysis. The landscaping analysis pinpoints bad road developments, and organizations. The ecologic one allows considering biodiversity and carbon footprint. Finally, recommendations are made: in short-term basis, simple changes in development and surfaces attributed to mowers are made. In long to middle-term basis mowers will be under the referent sector and will cover a different and larger surface to improve the efficiency of the management.
