Évaluation de la douleur physique chez les femmes pratiquant une interruption volontaire de grossesse médicamenteuse

Abstract : Objectives. Abortion is a real public health problem : around 200000 women have an abortion every year in France and this number is continually on the rise. It is well known that abortions can be painful for patients but few studies have examined this : therefore, an investigation was made to evaluate the pain experienced by a woman during a medical abortion. We also tried to highlight some characteristics that could promote the painful feelings in order to take into account the development of an analgesic procedure. Materials and methods. This prospective descriptive and uni-centric study took place at the family planning center of Poissy/Saint-Germain-en-Laye hospital (CHIPS). 148 questionnaires were distributed to patients and their medicals files were explored to collect additional informations. Results. First, our study shows that 33,8% of patients felt a pain higher than 3/10 on a numeric scale during the intervention. For 66,2% of women, it was less than this figure. Then, the data was analyzed and it showed that the age, BMI, parity, gravidity, number of previous abortions and the existence of dysmenorrhea were all greatly significant factors that resulted in higher pain. Finally, with these elements, two procedures have been established to enable optimal management of the pain experienced by a woman during a medical abortion.
