La contraception, une affaire de couple ?

Abstract : Objective: Lots of studies about birth control consider women's point of view, but what about men? This study aims at identifying which place the male partner occupies in the couple about birth control. Methods: We conducted a quantitative study in the form of two questionnaires: one for women who were hospitalised in maternity ward at the CHIPS, the other for their partner. We recorded general informations, data about knowledge level, male partner's participation, his satisfaction about it and his spouse's one as well as male's interest in birth control. The study took place between september the first 2013 and october the seventeenth 2013. Results and conclusion: Women seem to have more knowledge about birth control than men. A majority of men is interested in birth control and is involved in the choice of means of contraception, especially during postnatal period. Most of the men are satisfied with the place they occupy although half of them whish more involvement. Most of women are not expecting their partner to get more involved in the future.
