Apports d’ateliers sensoriels dans la prise en charge de la dysphagie en institution gériatrique

Abstract : The loss of the eating’s pleasure and interact with meals for an old patient with swallowing disorders is suffering as well as dysphagia. For an elderly patient suffering from a swallowing disorder, the loss of pleasure in eating and the loss of interaction during meals are sources of pain, as much as dysphagia. The establishment of sensory workshops about food tend to show increases in various fields: social interactions during meals, the patient's feeling towards food and his appetite. For this, we compared two groups of patients conventionally treated for their swallowing disorders; only one of the groups participated in the workshops. Although we observed a low impact on the swallowing disorder, a significant improvement in appetite and interactions between patients emerged from this study.
