Opinion des médecins généralistes d’Ile-de-France sur l’utilisation des tests rapides d’orientation diagnostique du VIH en consultation

Abstract : In 2010, approximately 150,000 people were living with HIV in France, 20 % were unaware of their HIV status and were therefore potentially at risk of transmitting the virus. Given these findings, recommendations were made to improve HIV screening policy which included strengthening the role of general practitioners with, among other measures, the possible use of rapid HIV tests during consultation. In 2014, the aim of our study was to know the views of general practitioners in Ile de France on the use of these tests in practice, through a survey. Out of 103 physicians who responded, 67% felt that these tests have their place in the HIV screening strategy, 73% considered them workable in practice, 55% felt they would improve their involvement in HIV screening and 66% considered their use would increase the number of patients screened.*However, only 59% of physicians were aware of the existence of these tests at the time of the survey, which shows a lack of information. Also many obstacles to their use were mentioned first of which no valuation of the act and the complexity of a positive or doubtful result to give immediately. It seems necessary to think about the conditions for achieving these tests in consultation and about the place left for the of HIV screening activity in general practice.
