Lire et philosopher pour mieux comprendre et gérer l'expression de sa colère au cycle 3

Abstract : Managing ones feelings is not always easy. It is however, essential in order to blossom personally and in society. The knowledge and control of one’s feelings thus requires awareness and must be learnt. Through reading numerous research papers on children’s feelings, on the role of literature at school and on the pros of using philosophical debates at school, we set up an experiment with a multilevel class of cycle 3. We wanted to know, to what extent, the study of youth literature leads to better managing feelings? We postulated that the study of texts dealing with anger and associated philosophical debates, would allow pupils to better understand the processes surrounding anger. They would then be better capable of managing their emotions. The results show that this is not necessarily true for all the pupils and that expected results have to be measured over time. However, a noticeable result was observed in the class atmosphere and in the inter-pupil relationships on a daily basis.
