La contractualisation au sein de la filière d'importation banane européenne

Abstract : The liberalization of the European banana market in 2006 has been followed on some markets by a reorganization of the upstream business operators. In Germany, importers and distributors have adopted contractual relations, whereas in France the spot market remains the main exchange mode. This study presents the first results from the interviews with the French and German stakeholders regarding the current stage of contractualization on both markets. The comparison of the French and German market structure allows to understand to which extend contractualization has developed quicker in Germany. The decrease of the import prices’ volatility is a must to have but it’s not enough for the implementation of contracts. Finally, the lack of efficiency of the contracts on both markets shows the current limits of contractualization, that could be mitigated in some cases.
