Adapter ses pratiques d’enseignement pour favoriser la motivation des élèves

Abstract : In pre-school, children are not unavoidably motivated to go to school or not necessarily involved in school work. However, motivation and involvement are strongly linked to the academic and social success. That is why it is so important to adapt our teaching practices in order to promote these two success factors. Thus, during this year of internship, I have used in my teaching practices a set of measures, from research and from several studies realized in experimental contexts, to increase students’ motivation and involvement. Here are all of this measures: to organize the class in a structured way, to create a positive and reassuring emotional atmosphere, to make explicit learning goals, to stimulate students through feedback compatible with their progress and difficulties, and finally to leave it up to students to choose on which activities they will work. We observed this package’s influence on four students from our class who were not much motivated and not much involved in their learnings. The consequences identified that the adaptation of our teaching practices overall fostered motivation and involvement of these students.
