Mise en œuvre de l'expansion continue pour le raccordement en basses pressions absolues du μPa au mPa

Abstract : To improve uncertainty of absolute pressure measurements between 1,0 μPa and 1,0 mPa, the Joint Laboratory for Metrology (Laboratoire Commun de Métrologie or LCM) wishes to implement the primary method known as continuous expansion. To begin with, the constant pressure gas flowmeter required for this implementation was designed in 2010. The calibration chamber is equipped with an adjustable conductance. The reference pressure generated downstream the conductance is deduced from the measurement of the injected gas flow and the pressure upstream from the conductance together with the value of the conductance determined previously and the pressure ratio. In this dissertation, the optimization of the adjustable conductance is studied and a detailed assessment of uncertainty of the reference pressure generated with the continuous expansion method is carried out based on the metrological characterization of its various components. Calibration of a hot cathode ionization gauge allows comparison of the continuous expansion method with that used so far based on secondary standards.
