La classe hétérogène : différencier à l'aide des stratégies d'apprentissage

Abstract : Teacher's today have to face a major challenge which is taking into account their pupil's diversity. Nevertheless they may often find themselves in a deadlock when it comes to handling all of those differences simultaneously. The current reform project for the French secondary school in 2016 shows that this is even a political issue. This research paper searches for useful solutions, based essentially on learning strategies and their contribution to differentiated instruction. The point of departure may appear appalling, but we try to give a motivating answer : taking into account all the differences in a class is impossible, but pupils can learn how to manage their diversity themselves by using learning strategies. This research paper evaluates an experience with 36 pupils and shows their needs in terms of learning strategies. Participants had to try and evaluate different techniques, and finally participate in a vocabulary control. Results confirm the assumption of the start : pupils are very different when it comes to learning profiles, but they don't know the advantages of diversifying their learning strategies.
