Études socio-spatiales des écoles publiques à Dar-es-Salaam

Abstract : The school system in Tanzania has undergone numerous transformations over the past few years. Among several factors, the State's disengagement and the fall of the quality of education have lead families to elaborate original strategies. The study of government schools in Dar-es-Salaam is, in this sense, interesting as the urban space, rich thanks to its diversified nature, allows the elaboration of original schemes. Indeed, the following analysis questions the conditions of the insertion of educational establishments within the city, it also studies the interactions and the social discrepancies it generates when such is the case. At last, it lays the foundations of the geographical sharing-out of some city-dwellers activities - that of the teachers - as well as a specific geography of the city : that of the students.
