Les photos conversationnelles en proie à plusieurs temporalités : le cas des usages conversationnels et mémoriels des photos échangées sur WhatsApp

Abstract : Photos, whose sharing and interactions play a particularly visible part on online social networks, seem to currently be considered from the conversational point of view The aim of this paper is to put into perspectives the ephemeral characteristic that defines conversational photos, and to investigate uses of preservation of photos exchanged through the interactions on the mobile phone application WhatsApp. The challenge of this study is to demonstrate that conversational photos can be embedded in uses that do not seem, at first sight, compatible with the social intentions that underpin them. A first part highlights the fact that conversational photos storage can be explained by the communicational logic these pictures integrate; before pointing out that there are preservation desires, which are motivated by more personal needs.
