La motivation comme facteur de réussite scolaire

Abstract : As a trainee teacher, and as part of the curriculum of the Masters degree, I had the opportunity to conduct research focusing on the possible link between motivation and educational success of the students. Indeed, by helping the students feel more motivated for school, they would be more involved in their own education and, as a consequence, they would be more likely to succeed. In these circumstances, motivation would appear for the teachers in charge, as a goal to reach, and also a precious tool to ensure the success of the pedagogical approaches. Motivation could then be perceived as a key to fight against school dropout and failure, which are important problems I am facing everyday in the high school where I teach.. These ideas are, as a matter of fact, the main hypotheses of my research. In this perpective, I organized a three-part experimentation following the major theories of motivation. Even if the results obtained with the students concerned were not entirely positive, they were a success with the majority of the participants, including the students who often lack motivation or who are on the verge of quitting school.
