Prise en charge de l'anxiété en odontologie pédriatrique : alternatives à l'utilisation des substances médicamenteuses

Abstract : Anxiety can be a major problem when performing a dental treatment in the daily practice. In this work, we have focused on the means commonly used for the management of dental anxiety in children. Then, look at the limits of existing resources, we proposed additional non-drug alternatives for care. In the first part, we recalled child’ development stages, definitions and etiologies of anxiety, its manifestations and means of assessment in the dental office. The second part highlights the importance of the first visit and the triangular relationship in dental care. It recalls the psychological approaches and most "invasive" behavior approaches. The third part outlines the various pharmacological ways for the management of children’ anxiety and attempts to highlight their limitations. The fourth part proposes several effective non-drug alternatives to expand our therapeutic options.
