Maternité célibataire : vécu de la grossesse en l’absence du père

Abstract : Context : single women find themselves alone during their pregnancy which is a vulnerable period of time . They can't receive any support from their partner which is yet beneficial to the good continuity of the pregnancy and to the creation of bonding towards the baby. Objective : the aim of this study was to understand the experience of pregnancy among single women through their feelings. Design : this qualitative approach was made with half-directed interviews. 5 interviews were led between December 2015 and March 2016 in the Aquitaine Region . 2 women were met in the third term of their pregnancy and 3 in their post-partum. Findings: although there was a desire for pregnancy and children , these women didn't expect to live their pregnancy alone at the beginning. When they finally understood their partner wouln't come back, they feared the future and expressed a feeling of guilt. Key conclusion : pregnancy is a source of multiple and paradoxical emotions among the women who were interviewed : Joy and happiness but also worry, anxiety and guilt.
