Étude descriptive rétrospective des cas de syphilis diagnostiqués au Centre Hospitalier de Périgueux entre le 3 avril 2001 et le 31 décembre 2014

Abstract : Introduction : syphilis infection increase has been observed since the early 2000s. Syphilis cases diagnosed at the Hospital of Périgueux between 3rd April and 2014 December 31 were retrospectively reviewed. Methods : cases were selected on serological (positive TPHA) and clinic criteria, compatible with a diagnosis of symptomatic or latent syphilis. Results : There were 62 cases of primary, secondary and latent syphilis included in our study. The majority were men (n=53; 90%), about 37 years, without known history for sexually transmitted infection (STI), (n=37; 60%), for whom the serological test had been motivated by the presence of clinical signs of STI (n=30; 48%). These clinical signs were most of the time cutanéo-mucous symptoms of secondary syphilis (66%). HIV prevalence in our study was 42% (n=26). Cases presenting a primary syphilis were treated by up to three injections of Benzathine Pénicilline G. The majority of cases presenting a late syphilis or neurological signs were insufficiently treated. Only five cases (8%) had the serological recommended follow-up after the treatment (VDRL control at M3, M6, M12 and M24). Conclusion : this study highlights that Dordogne is also affected by the syphilis epidemic of syphilis in France. Improvements in the management of syphilis cases (treatment and follow-up) are required to limit the spread of the infection by insisting on the importance of protected sexual relations.
