The newborn baby develops its psychobodyly structure in response to his or to her environment. Parents play a fundamental role in supporting and reinforcing this early development. In cases of premature birth or serious illness, hospitalization may be necessary. The baby is then separated from its parents, in addition to facing the somatic pathology and care that can sometimes be painful and intrusive. Hospitalized infants may thus experience developmental delays that impact his or her overall well-being. The psychomotrician can, in a sense, adjust the child’s physical and human environment to make it “good enough”. This is achieved through individual psychomotricity sessions, or sessions accompanied by parents. In this way, a child can successfully develop physical and psycho-social skills, despite hospitalization.
