La Pilocarpine dans le cadre des xérostomies radio-induites

Abstract : Xerostomia is one of the most common complication of radiotherapy in patient with head and neck cancer. Pilocarpine is a cholinergic parasympathomimetic agent indicated for the treatment of symptoms of dry mouth and eyes. However, it is rarely recommend in France as part of post-irradiation xerostomia. The aim of this work is to evaluate, through a review of literature, the efficacy of Pilocarpine for radiations induced xerostomia; to seek a possible radioprotective role of Pilocarpine when it is administered as a preventive measure during radiotherapy, in order to establish a prescription protocol.
