Évaluation de la séance éducative en puériculture du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Nord à Marseille

Abstract : Introduction: The subject of this thesis is to study the impact on parents of the childcare session set up since 2009 at the CHU Nord in Marseille, as part of the preparation for the maternity exit. Various topics are discussed, such as rhythms, sleeping, feeding, cares and follow-up of the child. It responds to the recommendations on child health published by the ONDPS in 2013. This session had been evaluated among health care workers in 2014, showing that parental involvement was still low, but no assessment had been made to parents so far. Objectives: identify the reasons for not participating in this session, assess the degree of satisfaction of the parents at the end of the childcare session and identify their feeling of competence. Method: quantitative, descriptive, prospective, unicentric study, in 2 parts : part 1: participation questionnaire completed by all women who gave birth, part 2: questionnaire completed by the parents who attended the session. Results: 1st part: 171 women answered, and 60% did not wish to attend the sessions, 2nd part: 100 parents (81 mothers and 19 partners) answered, 80% are completely satisfied with the session and feel themselves 52% more confident to take care of their child, 69% for sleeping, 71% for temperature and 57% for the prevention of infections. Discussion, Part 1: The main reasons for not participating in the session are: the schedule, postpartum patient status, language barrier. Part 2: During postpartum, parents need an important support, and it appears that they are all the more satisfied with the session when they felt they were listened by professionals (p <0.013) and that they were able to express themselves (p <0.018) during this period. It would be useful to encourage more exchanges between parents, which would allow multiparous women to entrust their experiments to the primiparous. Thus, this education should be continued after returning home by the two post-natal sessions, as well as the establishment of the EPNP, recommended by the HAS.
