Comment valoriser un site culturel en milieu naturel ? Étude de cas de l'îlet des Salazes (Île de la Réunion)

Abstract : The evolution of the island of Reunion puts in evidence its colonial history and its cultural influences from all over the world. In the heart of the island, protected in a cocoon of nature, a typology of habitat subsists. These are the “îlets”. The îlet of the Salazes is located in the heights of the circus of Cilaos. Owned by the Department, this îlet becomes an ideal tool for raising people awareness of the environment, Sustainable Development and the dissemination of the natural and cultural heritage of this isolated site. On the eve of the "Nature Weekends" scheduled in October 2017, the Department is launching a process to enhance the site and accommodate a wider audience. Thereby, a study is requested to the CAUE of Reunion Island. The importance given to the preservation of the "Creole soul", natural environments and landscapes, the team in charge of this study goes to the site to carry out a sensitive analysis and capture the essence. Based on the importance of "the sense of place", the CAUE's response is oriented towards a proposal for the interpretation of landscapes where the animation of the site will prevail over the installation of informative panels. This file, after setting the context of the study, illustrates the methodology used by the team to construct its response as well as some elements of proposals.
