Étude du saltus à travers l'évolution des paysages de la montagne basque : quelles perspectives ?

Abstract : This work approaches the consequences of the agricultural changes that took place during the 20th century within the Basque mountains and offers to answer that question through the systemic vision of the landscape discipline. To do so, this thesis focuses on the construction and the evolution of agricultural and pastoral landscapes and in the same time analyses the both agricultural production systems of the early 20th and 21st centuries. That 1st diagnostic concluded that a part of the land we studied, called saltus, was concentrating many issues. This is why the follow up of this study focuses on the saltus, in particular through personal interviews of farmers. The conclusion of those two diagnostics dealing with both the scales of land and farms, allows us to build a reflection about the role of saltus in the future through the study of the agricultural policies and the overview of planning tools and pastoral practices.
