Mise en place d’une typologie de séances grâce au système de positionnement par satellites (GPS) au sein du groupe Espoirs du Stade Rennais Football Club

Abstract : The training load management of high-level athletes is an essential factor in performance and injury prevention. The global positioning system (GPS) is nowadays characterized as a highly technological and an easy-to-use device, alowwing to highlight the physical skills of players and to analyse them by different ways. The aim of this study was to use this medium to quantify the efforts of all the football players, and to set up a session categorization representing the global intensity generated by a scale based on distances traveled and the way they were. For the purpose of validating this system, we have sought to compare it to other widely valid models handing close informations like RPE or Training load. Twenty-four national elite soccer players (body mass : 72,07 kg ; height : 178,2 cm ; fat mass : 10,09 %) were distinguished in two distincts groups (n = 12) in order to confirm the data measured on different audiences, and participated in 8 weeks of competition with daily training, and each bearing a 10 Hz GPS. The results show a significant difference (p<0,05) between the different types of sessions, both for the RPE model and the training load. Thus, we can highlight the usefulness of this system, wich seems to correspond to a valid tool for monitoring the intensity and the load exerted during the football activity.
