Prothèse fixée implantaire : intérêts des empreintes optiques

Abstract : Nowadays, implantology is considered as the prefered therapeutic option for the replacement of missing teeth. Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) has recently been associated with implantology. This combination aims at proposing an innovative option and better performance. However, is this association really a major progress concerning dental impression? In order to answer this question, one should consider the benefits, the drawbacks and the limits of optical acquisition in the case of implants prosthodontics. Even though many benefits can be attributed to optical acquisition (gain of time, more simple protocols, better evaluation of the patient’s condition, etc), pratitioners still expect new benefits to be revealed. Digital impression shows a real progress, nevertheless new improvement in matters of precision and equipment costs should come for this technology to gain an unquestioned place in the sector of dental implantology.
