Intérêt du test de marche « Functional Gait Assessment » dans la prévention du risque de chute chez la personne âgée

Abstract : Currently, because of ageing population, falls among elderly person represent an important public health problem. There are many consequences : it can be a source of mortality. It is the leading cause of fatal accidents of all ages. It is therefore essential to detect the subjects at risk with effective tests in order to adapt the rehabilitation and thus reducing the number of falls. I was interested by the Functional Gait Assessment (FGA) which was validated as a predictive test for fall risk. I made a comparison protocol between the Tinetti test and the FGA to show the interest of the latter. My work shows that the FGA items seem more interesting and the results show that it is more accurate than the Tinetti test. The limits of the study restrict the interpretation. However, the FGA test has the merit of being predictive and therefore must be known by health professionals to improve prevention techniques.
