Prévention nutritionnelle des maladies parodontales : impact des polyphénols et des oméga 3

Abstract : In the last years, various studies and scientific research data demonstrated the importance of the relation between nutrition, general health and periodontal health. For instance, many vitamins and physiological needs and to ensure the proper functioning of the immune system in fighting against infection, thus promoting consequently for an optimal periodontal health.micro-nutriments have shown beneficial effects in the prevention of periodontal diseases. In this study, we investigated the role of omega-3 fatty acids and polyphenols in the prevention of periodontitis, with a particular interest on their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. For patients following a well-balanced diet, no evidences have shown the need for a dietary supplementation. However, if food intake is inadequate, it is recommended to adapt the patient dietary practices in order to meet their physiological needs and to ensure the proper functioning of the immune system in fighting against infection, thus promoting consequently for an optimal periodontal health.
