Évaluation du programme d'éducation thérapeutique EduCardAix dans les suites d'un syndrome coronarien aigu

Abstract : Introduction: Therapeutic education (ETP) plays a central role in the secondary prevention of coronary disease. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the EduCardAix program on knowledge of the disease and its treatments, behavioural changes in terms of physical activity and food hygiene, psychological repercussions, therapeutic adherence and recidivism management. Material and methods: In this "before-after" study, the ETP EduCardAix program was proposed to patients under the age of 80 years who presented acute coronary syndrome with or without revascularization at the Aix-en-Provence hospital centre. Patients were enrolled between June 2016 and June 2017 and were asked to complete two surveys: one in the initial review and the other in the final review of the program. Results: Of the 58 patients who responded to the initial survey, 42 patients (mean age: 58 years, 88.1% men and 11.9% women) participated in the final assessment. There is an improvement in the practice of sports activities, the use of relaxation techniques, the acquisition of recognition and management of recidivism, management of travel abroad and the role of medicines. The results are similar between the before and after program in terms of behavioural change at the nutritional level, the psychological slope and the knowledge gained on the disease and the cardiovascular risk factors. Adherence to medication and smoking cessation are also improving. The satisfaction rate of the program is excellent (9/10 on average). Conclusion: This ETP program has shown beneficial effects on various points. Efforts must be made to ensure that the majority of long-term patients can benefit from this type of program and to harmonize the organization of these programs.
