Imagerie tridimensionnelle de surface en orthopédie dento-faciale : revue de la littérature

Abstract : Until now, the assessment of soft tissues was done from the frontal, lateral photographs and lateral cephalograms. These two-dimensional images can not reflect the three-dimensional reality of the face. Progress in three-dimensional surface imaging provides more additional information in dentofacial orthopedics. Techniques such as surface laser scanner or stereo photogrammetry have become available to describe and compare 3D facial surfaces, to study growth, to plan diagnosis or virtual surgical treatment, and to evaluate treatment outcomes. The objective of this thesis is to make a point of the contributions of the 3D surface imaging in diagnosis and follow-up in orthodontics throughout a literature review.
