Évaluation des connaissances des internes de Médecine Générale de la subdivision Océan Indien sur l'Éducation thérapeutique du patient

Abstract : Background : the prevalence of chronic diseases is increasing in France's overseas territory and departments. Prevention and care of chronic diseases are challenges of the Health Regional project 2018-2027. Therapeutic Patient Education (TPE) helps to improve the health of the patients. In recent years, there is an upturn of the TPE program's. These programs are made and executed by health professionals who are qualified. The main purpose of this study is to assess the TPE knowledges of the General practice (GP) residents in Indian Ocean subdivision. Methods : a quantitative, descriptive, transversal and monocentric survey was made by an on-line questionnaire. It was submitted to Indian Ocean subdivision GP residents (ECN 2014 to ECN 2017). The sprade of the document was made by mail by the General practice department. Results : one hundred and one GP residents participated to the investigation. The major part of them involved TPE in patients’ care pathways. The General practitioner would have a significant role in TPE. 90 % of the GP résidents would like to practice TEP in their future exercise. For 79,2 % of them, the lack of training is a difficulty for TPE exercice. Heigth on ten GP residents didn't have a specific formation during their studies. New reform residents seem to be more aware of TEP than the others. 77,2 % of GMR had less than one day formation during their medical studies. A lot of them (62,4 %) didn't feel able to make TPE at the term of their studies. Finally, 97 residents were favorable for a TPE practical training during their resident years. Conclusion : this investigation shows the TPE interest of the Indian Ocean Subdivision GP residents. Their TPE knowledges’s seems to progress but is still insufficient. It appears essential to improve TPE formation to boost the activity in their future exercice.
