Description des atteintes bucco-dentaires dans la population infantile et adulte atteinte de Sclérose Tubéreuse de Bourneville

Abstract : The Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder (described for the first time in 1863 by Von Recklinghausen) characterized by benign tumors that may involve multiple organs such as phaneres. The diagnose of TSC is first made by clinical manifestations, diagnostic criteria have been established by Gomez in 1979. The literary data related to symptoms in the oral cavity are solely dental enamel pits and oral fibromas. However cohort studies are few and it’s hard to find datas and studies about the frequency of occurence of these lesions. The main goal of this observational study is to study the prevalence and number of oral lesions found in TSC. Second goals are to study frequencies of these lesions depending on gender, age of patients and type of tooth. This study is comparable to current literature data, with 100% persons suffering from dental enamel pits and 62% from oral fibromas. In this study we note that gender seems not to be a determining factor for the frequency and the number of lesions. Concerning dental enamel pits, our study shows differences depending on the type of tooth: frequencies and number of lesions vary. Those results underline the necessity to continue the researches and to take into account new criteria.
