La fatigue de compassion : état des lieux des connaissances, aspects cliniques : enquête transversale, multicentrique auprès de soignants intervenant dans les services de psychiatrie en milieu carcéral

Abstract : Introduction: in our daily practice in psychiatry, the relationship with the patient is a central element of care, making us privileged interlocutors. For twenty years, many authors have been interested in the effects that traumatic stories can have on caregivers and more particularly on mental health caregivers. This prolonged exposure to traumatic material provided by the patient can result in different concepts such as secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma. The purpose of this study is to assess compassion fatigue among SMPR and UHSA caregivers and to identify risk and protective factors. Method: this is an epidemiological, transversal, multicenter study involving 115 caregivers practicing at UHSA Lille and Rennes and SMPR Lille, Amiens, Caen, Rennes. Each participant received an anonymous questionnaire of 48 questions assessing compassion fatigue in the compassion fatigue test, and the main risk factors and protections according to a questionnaire developed by us. We performed a descriptive analysis of the data as well as bivariate analyzes. Results: TUC average is 37.26 is high risk. In bivariate analyzes, 12 explanatory variables demonstrated a statistically significant relationship with the TUC score variable. Conclusion: because of its deleterious potential on the caregiver, the CF is a real public health issue, evidenced by the growing attention paid to the understanding and description of psychosocial risks.
