Utilisation d’un classeur de communication pragmatique par l’enfant porteur du syndrome d’Angelman

Abstract : Patients with Angelman Syndrome (AS) have a language deficit that is more expressive than receptive. It then appears necessary to set up an alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). Among the means of communication proposed, PODD workbooks are more described in the literature. However, the characteristics used by this tool may have some limits. Articles also report the importance of adapting AAC to the child's abilities. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the impact of the use of pragmatic workbooks, workbooks inspired by PODD functioning but adapted to children’s abilities, on their communication skills and approaches, as well as on their behaviors. This research takes the form of a case study of five children with AS and using a pragmatic workbook. To do this, the NEC grid, questionnaires and parental interviews have been used. Thus, children regularly confronted to pragmatic workbook make progress in their communication abilities. Parents also notice that this adapted workbook improves their daily lives but has little help to manage behaviors.
