La diversité du développement périurbain des trois grandes aires urbaines normandes : la manière dont celui ci « fait avec » les histoires sociales, économiques et politiques locales

Abstract : My research concerns peri-urban areas that are characterized by an unintarrupted growth for decades. How can we define these spaces ? By the way in which people appropriated the territory: from the concentration of population in city centres until the beginning of the phenomenon of peri-urbanisation from the 1960s. From the time of rural exodus and labor force flows which are causes of a current urban sprawl and a denser occupancy of areas near cities. My questioning focuses on the hypothesis of the diversity of the development modalities of this process and the way to 'deal with' according to local economic and social histories, the actors that produce these spaces, answers or 'nonresponse' given by the local elected representatives.
