Évolution des acteurs et des modes de gestion des risques côtiers depuis le 16e siècle et évaluation des vulnérabilités actuelles sur la commune des Sables-d’Olonne (Vendée)

Abstract : This study attempts an historic approach of actors and coastal risks management in Les Sables-d’Olonne. This town is located in the Vendée department on the French Atlantic coast, affected by sea surge hazard during the storm Xynthia in February 2010. Past management knowledge allows its contemporary understanding related to actors games that developed gradually in accordance with political logics. Interviews aim to identify the role of local actors and help considering coastal risk management as a whole. The development of activities on the coast has contributed to the presence of stakes on the territory whose structural and human vulnerabilities are studied. Criterias are applied to buildings in order to produce prospective vulnerability levels maps. Mappings reveal a strong unequal distribution of vulnerability levels across the diagnosed sector.
