Évaluation de la satisfaction de la sexualité des hommes dans le post-partum et des informations reçues

Abstract : Objective: Even today, postpartum sexuality is a topic that is not addressed very much by health professionals with couples during the perinatal period. In order to allow for a more comprehensive approach, man should be better considered. We therefore tried to evaluate the satisfaction of men's sexuality in the postpartum period and then to appreciate the information they received during the perinatal period and thus to assess the role of the midwife. Method: To do this, we designed a survey consisting of 29 questions. It was proposed to men at the maternity after the birth of their second child living and with the same companion. The survey concerned the postpartum of the first child (period from birth to one year of the child). We received 56 responses from the 80 questionnaires distributed in two maternity wards in Ile de France, one at level I and one at level II. Results: Our results showed that men appear to be less satisfied sexually during the first year after the birth of their first child. Furthermore, they do not seem to have sufficient information to overcome these difficulties. According to these men, midwives would seem to be the professionals most suitable to talk about this subject with them. Indeed, it would be relevant to approach it during the sessions of Preparation to the Birth and to the Parenthood or in maternity after childbirth, thanks to the dialogue and a brochure. These results corroborate those of the literature. The midwife has therefore a leading role in this prevention.
