État bucco-dentaire des enfants de douze ans en Gironde : analyse des données fournies par les bilans bucco-dentaires MT'dents

Abstract : The reduction in caries prevalence among children aged 6 and 12 years was one of the flagship measures of the national oral prevention plan announced in 2005. To do this, dental check-ups benefiting from a fee waiver were set up in 2007 as part of the MT’ dents program. Studies describing the oral status of children in France are rare and old. This thesis aims to describe the oral health of twelve-year-old children participating in the prevention meeting proposed in the context of the MT’ dents program during the year 2017 in Gironde. To this end, we used the data collected on the form for the oral assessment. It appears that the average DMFT of the children participating in the program is 0.25 [95% Confidence Interval (CI): 0.13-0.36], which is lower than the average DMFT of twelve-year-olds attending school according to the latest departmental data provided by the UFSBD. The results of our study suggest that the MT’ dents device does not reach the population with the most severe carious lesions. An evolution of the communication of the program associated with modifications of the form to better support practitioners is therefore to be considered.
