Déplacement forcé, dépossession et inégalité de revenus en Colombie : 1993 et 2005

Abstract : This research proposes a new notion of forced displacement with dispossession of land related to accentuation of income inequality, in both rural and urban environments in Colombia with data of the year 1993 and 2005, in the context of internal armed conflict. The panel data models and difference-in-differences regression results suggest that the forced displacement in reception municipalities ant the dispossessed displacement in origin municipalities increase Gini coefficient. The link between reception of displaced persons and income inequality presents a level that can be varied according to the public expenditure by municipalities, and the impact of the expulsion of displaced and dispossessed persons appears to be greater than that of the reception of migrants. On the regional analysis, there are upward trends in inequality when the reception of migrants and the expulsion of dispossessed migrants affect regions with weak public institutions. Forced displacement and dispossession of land seem to be two related economic phenomena that generate income inequality in one of the most unequal countries in the world.
