L’éveil aux langues et l’approche multisensorielle en classe de moyenne section de maternelle

Abstract : This research aims at reviewing the advantages and the impact of a multi-sensory approach during a language awareness class with pre-school pupils. The theoretical part defines different concepts such as pre-school education, language awareness and the multi-sensory approach with the work of Philippe Meirieu, Martine Kervran, Howard Gardner and Anne-Marie Voise. It also presents a variety of ways to implement multisensory activities based on the work of some teachers-researchers, and especially the EOLE project. Using this framework, an experimentation was conducted with a pre-school class in order to show the advantages of using hearing and sight during language awareness activities to enhance memory. This experimentation did not reveal any genuine distinction between hearing-only and hearingand- visual memorization. However, it appeared that mobilizing several senses helped the pupils to be more motivated and involved in the project, which in turn had a positive impact on their memorization.
