Analyse de l’impact économique de la pénétration des biosimilaires : étude à partir des données de santé en vie réelle issues de L’EGB de 2007 à 2017

Abstract : Introduction: biosimilars medicines represent potential saving for the health system in France. The world of biologic medicines is changing: the health authorities are more and more taking incitative measures to encourage biosimilars prescription and some expensive reference products are losing their patents exclusivity. Objective: the aim of this study is to analyze the economics burden of biosimilars with real-world data from the permanent sample of national health insurance, between 2007 (first biosimilar launch) and 2017. Material and methods: it’s a restrospective observational study of biosimilars and reference products. Results: biosimilar expenditures were €698 million compared to €6,5 billion for references, during the study. Market shares increased from 4% to 19% between 2010 to 2017. Biosimilar from filgrastim and epoetine had the most important market shares of the study in 2017 with 80% and 63% respectively. Conclusion: the objective of 80% of market share fixed by the « Health National Strategy » in 2022 is attainable if the market keeps the actual trend. This study should be continued to evaluate the impact of biosimilars prescriptions incitation released in 2018.
