Effets chroniques en puissance sur le haut du corps d’un programme d’entraînement de type contraste de charge lourd-léger avec bandes élastiques Vs charges traditionnelles chez des sportifs de haut niveau

Abstract : The purpose of this study was to investigate the long term effects of complex power training programs (heavy / light loads) on the upper body performed with two different modalities : with elastic bands (EL) or traditional résistances (SE). 16 young elite rugby players (mean age = 19,5 ± 1,5 ans) followed this training program for 6 weeks with 1 session and 4 sets per week. They were divided in two groups : EL groupe (3 x 85% RM with 25% provided from elastic bands + 5 x 30% RM), SE group (3 x 85% RM + 5 x 30% RM). Maximum strength, speed and power tests were performed by each subject at different intensities (30%, 50%, 60%, 80% RM) and measured at two distinct moments (Pre and Post-protocole). Results showed a significant maximum power increase for both groups at the end of the training program only at 30% RM (F = 5, P = 0,033). No significant differences were found for other intensities. In conclusion, these two training modalities seem to be effective to reach the power adaptations. However, the elastic modality gives more interesting data because the intensity during the heavy pre-exercice was overall lower than the heavy pre-exercice with traditional resistances. Consequently, the use of elastic bands provides less external loads, muscular and osteoarticular demands, but identical internal adaptations than traditional résistances which establish a progress in training knowledges.
