Impact de l’activité physique adaptée sur la qualité de vie des patients insuffisants cardiaques

Abstract : ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to attempt to highlight the impact of the prescription of adapted physical activity on the quality of life of patients with chronic heart failure. The prescription of adapted physical activity (APA) in patients with heart failure is a relatively recent practice and so far not scientifically evaluated. In addition, only few works focused on this aspect of monitoring heart failure until now, but some of these studies have shown that patients are more interested in their quality of life than in their longevity. The quality of life of patients with heart failure admitted to five frenches rehabilitation centers was evaluated by validated self-questionnaires over a period of four months. The results obtained before inclusion and then at two and four months were compared using Wilcoxon’s signed rank test. Based on a specific questionaire (Minnesota) the results obtained four months later, proved to be significant. Despite the small number of patients included and many lost to follow-up, this study led to the conclusion of the interest of an APA-type physical activity program on the quality of life of patients with heart failure. A review of the multiple biases inherent in this type of study was conducted. It therefore appears that to prove the value of APA in patients with heart failure, new studies are needed. The size of these studies will have to be important in order to get a sufficient strength and to overcome any bias.
