Le thème de l'impiété filiale dans l’œuvre de Saikaku

Abstract : Our goal in this master’s thesis has been to study the peculiarities of Ihara Saikaku’s seventh work untitled Twenty paragons of filial impiety of our country (Honchô nijû fukô, 1695). Saikaku’s time was a period of transition: the merchants became powerful and were assimilating the notion of house or family (ie). Our hypothesis is that Saikaku represents the way the notions of filial piety or impiety were put in practice in the merchant cities and the contradictions they induced. The study of this work is also helpful to understand the intricate narrative techniques used by Saikaku.
