La contraception chez les femmes en situation de précarité

Abstract : Objectives: measure the comprehension of information regarding the contraception of woman in precarious situation with an EPICES score higher than 30. Study the specificities of precariousness and its impact on the comprehension of information and analyse the contraceptive path of these women. Material and Method: we carried out a qualitative and observational study through semi-directives interviews. This study has taken place from October 2018 to January 2019. 13 women in precarious situation with an EPICES score higher than 30 and consulting in CPEFs (center for family planning and education) were recruited. Results: women in precarious situation face major difficulties related to their life course and social inclusion scarred by psychological and emotional distress. As a result, these women know a very few about contraception due to the inability to hear and retain the delivered prevention messages. Furthermore cultural influence also plays an important role into the representation and choice of contraception. The CPEF is indeed an adapted structure for women in precarious situation since it offers a Multidisciplinary care. However the unstable and emergency aspects of precariousness remain as an important break to their understanding abilities. Conclusion: a larger scale and qualitative study could be carried out to collect other testimonies to offer an individualised and targeted support for women in precarious situation regarding their contraception.
