Dans quelles mesures les projets de tramway répondent-ils aux enjeux des villes durables ?

Abstract : Urban areas have many challenges: biodiversity restauration, urban sprawl, urban heat islands, and adaptation to climate changes. Thanks to its consequent impact on environment, mobility is a massive opportunity to meet with the challenges of sustainable cities. Through light rail projects, which is reintroduced in French cities since 30 years, this report try to determinate in which way light rail meet the challenges of sustainable cities. After a short presentation of apparition context of light rail projects and sustainable cities, this report propose an analysis of the impacts of light rail on the three crutches of sustainable development. For this, a concrete study of Angers and Tours light rail projects support this analysis. To conclude, recommendations are proposed as solutions for landscaper and actors of public spaces development.
