Préparation anténatale du périnée : état des lieux, propositions des SF ou attentes des femmes

Abstract : Introduction: Pelvic floor preparation for birth can be done by massage, EPI NO, pelvic floor exercices, breathing exercises, hyperlordosis corrective exercises and nutrients to improve muscular fibre. Depending on the method choosed, they aim a reduction in the proportin of tears, episiotomies, perineum pain during the first months of post partum, urinary and/or fecal incontinence. The aims of this study are to identify women’s knowledge, to identify the behoof and women’s use of pelvic floor preparation during pregnacy, and to assess women’s satisfaction after pelvic floor preparation. Method: retrospective multicenter quantitative study. Two hundred women after a term vaginal birth (<37 gestational weeks) were surveyed during their stay in the post patum ward between February 2018 and June 2018. Measured variables were: the information on pelvic floor preparation, the use of any kind of preparation and the reasons that motivated the choice, and finally their satisfaction. Results: 36% of women (n=73) had been informed about pelvic floor preparation, 30% (n=22) of them by a non medical source. Among the 127 women who had not been informed, 74% (n=94) wish they were. 70% (n=51) of the informed women decided to do a preparation, and all of them (n=51) were satisfied with their method. Conclusion: There is an important request from most women concerning pelvic floor preparation. There is a lack of information and/or education among healthcare providers. Women having had a preparation were very satisfied.
