Serious game : motivation et apprentissage dans la formation continue en santé

Abstract : Since 2013, the legislation concerning the continuous training of medical and paramedical personnel has evolved with Continuous Professional Development. Its purpose is to maintain the knowledge of health actors. In this context, the High Authority of Health invites institutions to develop innovative learning methods, such as simulation or the use of serious games. The choice of this study is a training action that allows the development of a culture of risk management and healthcare safety among healthcare personnel. These are standard precautions that deal with hospital hygiene. To conduct this study we used the serious game "i-control", created by the Centre for the Prevention of Care Associated Infections and the Centre's Hygienists Network. The questions posed by this research are: can the implementation of a serious game as part of continuing education create a motivating learning situation for the learner? And what impact would this serious game have on the learners' knowledge and skills after the fact? This study is based on a quantitative methodology using several questionnaires and an audit, and a qualitative methodology using semi-structured interviews. The results of this study show us that serious game seems to act on the learner's intrinsic motivation and that it stimulates interest in this learning context. However, with regard to the acquisition of knowledge and know-how, the results are not conclusive.
