Concevoir des jardins à visée thérapeutique dans les établissements médico-sociaux et de santé : un guide méthodologique pour accompagner les acteurs du prendre-soin et du paysage

Abstract : For about twenty years in France, green environments have been considered as an important determinant of health and well-being. Thus, social and healthcare institutions have been trying to design landscapes and gardens for therapeutic purposes. However, information relating to therapeutic garden design and therapeutic projects around gardens are hardly available. Guidelines and books are still published in USA and Anglo-Saxon countries, where the momentum appeared fifty years ago. The aim is now, following these examples, to create a methodological guide to healthcare, welfare and landscape professionals for therapeutic and healing garden design. Based on scientific data and experience feedbacks, the guide shows guidelines to explain and facilitate all steps of the design process, from the initiation to the assessment. This work around the guide resulted in a prototype which will be evaluated and enhanced before being published. This document presents the methodology used to create the prototype, the conditions in which data has been collected, and the main concerns about therapeutic garden design in healthcare facilities.
