Suivi INterprofessionnel des PATIents atteints de Cancer (étude SINPATIC) : une étude exploratoire auprès de patients

Abstract : Oncology management is evolving by increasing the demand on the general practitioner (GP). Interprofessional collaboration becomes a priority to optimize the cancer care pathway of patients. Few studies have explored the care pathway and the interprofessional collaboration and especially in France. We conducted a qualitative exploratory study of 10 patients with solid cancers in the SINPATIC study which looks at the patients' point of view (n = 30), their MG (n = 30) , their oncologists (n = 30) and nurses (n = 30). The sampling was reasoned and recrutment was made at hospital and ambulatory in Ile-De-France. The analysis of the data used a phemonenologic and thematic method using the d'Amour’s theoretical model of collaboration. The results show that the confrontation with cancer was a rich and complex step with processes of awareness, acceptance of care and decision making, a lack of clarification of professional roles but with actions attributed to the various actors, an announcement of cancer by "small ends" by several stakeholders, organizational and administrative difficulties and informal type of collaboration in inertia tending towards the construction with an organization of follow-up especially parallel, sometimes shared between the hospital team and the MG. These results as well as the confrontation of the points of view of the different actors should lead to concrete proposals to improve the care pathway. The main lever seems to lie in the optimization of interprofessional collaboration practices, particularly in terms of communication, and decompartmentalization between city and hospital.
