La prise en charge à l’officine de l’incontinence urinaire chez la sportive

Abstract : Urinary incontinence is a public health issue. Long associated with aging pathology, this symptom is less known to be present in the sports environment where young nulliparous women are affected. Some sports and certain periods of occurrence are more at risk than others, this being explained by the mechanism of stress urinary incontinence. However, sport is not the only one responsible because there are contributing factors. Being a taboo subject, sportswomen are lacking information. The pharmacist then plays a major role in managing this still undervalued phenomenon. Its key role is first and foremost in the prevention of pelvic statics disorders. He is the one who advises women and redirects them as needed. Stress urinary incontinence is not inevitable, there are solutions at the pharmacy to limit these leaks. As for the other solutions, the patient will have to consult a physiotherapist or a surgeon.
