Étude de la végétation et typologie des haies du Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles

Abstract : The Regional Natural Park of the Alpilles has an important hedgerow network, which is very dense for the Mediteerranean region. Currently, this network, which is very important for conservation of biodiversity, is threatened by destruction of hedgerows. The territory of the Alpilles is very mixed, it is composed of a former swamp, piemont plains and irrigated plain. As a consequence, edgerows create very different habitats for fauna and flora in agricultural landscape. With an analysis of the vegetation of hedgerows, this study shows differences between hedgerows in different environment, and differences between planted and natural hedgerows. Natural habitats created by hedgerows are defined and their interest for biodiversity is evaluated, in order to have a better knowlegde about this network and its issues for conservation of biodiversity.
