Climatologie urbaine de la ville de Caen

Abstract : In the current context of climatic change, citizens are more and more concerned about their living conditions. Indeed, the heat is already a question mark and a health issue for cities. The "urban heat" island effect, heat bubble above cities, is a well-known aspect of large conurbations. Nevertheless, it is less acknowledged in medium-sized and small settlements. Therefore, we will study the urban climate of Caen over the winter period. This study will be done through a comparison between the city and its periphery, measurements within the agglomeration and modeling, as well as works done with thermal imaging camera. Thanks to these researchs, we will note that it is a little bit excessive to talk about "urban heat" island during the study period in the conurbation of Caen. Moreover, we can observe the value of "weather type", presence and intensity of wind, topography and soil occupation in the setting of temperature variations. In addition, the study will allow us to corroborate ideas revealed in several investigations about urban climatology. For example, we will see that human constructions and soils sealing actively traps heat.
